Enhanced Cardiac Monitoring for Children at Home - Questions and Answers
What does the acceptance process for the service include and how is the follow-up conducted?
- During your visit to the institute, you will undergo a suitability test for the service by a responsible cardiologist or cardiologist and a nurse who are the “care managers".
- In the pediatric intensive cardiac care unit, you will receive explanations and guidance about the service from the staff.
- Prior to your discharge, you will be instructed on using specific technological equipment provided to you (tablet, Tyto, monitor, scale, etc.).
- Within a few hours of your arrival home, we will contact you to inquire about the wellbeing of your child
- In that conversation, we will coordinate a morning visit for you, conducted by a doctor and a nurse, and an evening visit, managed by a nurse.
*In exceptional cases, the examination will take place during hospitalization in pediatric intensive care.
What does the equipment training include?
Ahead of being discharged from intensive pediatric cardiac care, the team will guide you through the required equipment and conduct activation simulations with you. Additionally, the team will provide you with an explanatory booklet about the equipment. Please note: The equipment loaned to you is intended for reuse by other patients, so please ensure it is kept in as good a condition as possible.

How are appointments for visits made?
- Ahead of the prearranged time, you will receive an invitation through the tablet/Tyto system. When you hear a ring on the tablet, confirm your participation in the call. Note: Sometimes you may need to confirm participation more than once, and you will receive a notification on the tablet for this.
- After confirmation, the virtual visit will begin. At the end of the morning visit, a reassessment will be conducted to adjust the child's suitability for the service. A date for the next visit will be set with you at the end of each visit until the end of the service.
- Important: At the end of each visit, kindly return the equipment for charging.
How should you prepare for the follow-up appointment?
- Conduct the virtual follow-up in a quiet room with good lighting. If necessary, we may ask you to close the curtains for better image quality.
- If requested in advance, please carry out the relevant tests before the follow-up (weight, temperature, INR, etc.).
- When connecting to the system and the monitor, it's important to place the Tyto device next to the tablet to enable pairing between them.
- The date for the next review will be determined as needed. The follow-up will continue until the date set prior to discharge, for a physical examination at the Children's Heart Institute and for equipment return, or as decided by the cardiologist.
A few technical matters:
- Is a home internet connection necessary? No, the tablet utilizes a SIM card to facilitate the visit.
- Is there a device with a kosher SIM? Yes, we also have a tablet with a kosher SIM, which does not allow internet browsing except for the Tyto app.
- Do you need previous tech knowledge or experience to use the Tyto system and technology? The Tyto system is widely used in the community, user-friendly, and does not require prior knowledge or experience. You are already familiar with the additional technological equipment from hospitalization in the unit, and you will receive training on it from the team.
What happens at the end of the home monitoring?
After a decision has been made by a cardiologist that the enhanced cardiac monitoring can be concluded, you will be invited to the cardiac clinic at the Safra Children's Hospital at Sheba for a physical examination and to return the equipment. A date for a future check-up will be scheduled for you as needed.
