Psychiatric Home Care for Pregnancy and Postpartum Depression
Online psychiatric home hospital care for pregnant and postpartum women with depression
The “Chava Centre,” in partnership with Sheba BEYOND, Sheba's virtual hospital, offers online home hospitalization for postpartum women - the first of its kind in the world.
Our service offers comprehensive care for pregnant women and postpartum mothers up to six months after childbirth who require intensive, frequent care for depression as an alternative to hospitalization. We offer support right at home, where it's most comfortable and within a supportive environment. This way, there's no need to worry about the hassle of traveling to a clinic or the stress of being away from their baby.
Online home hospital care includes:
- 24/7 access to a nurse for any necessary contact
- Regular psychiatric follow-up and treatment
- One-on-one psychotherapy sessions
- Group therapy options
- Support for social assistance needs
- Dyadic therapy focusing on the mother-infant relationship
- Occupational therapy to support daily living activities
- Nutritional advice from a qualified nutritionist
How is the treatment carried out?
- The treatment is mostly delivered via online meetings, with the exception of the initial session, which we like to conduct in person. These sessions bring together the main caregiver—who plays a crucial role in the patient's home care—and our multi-disciplinary team of experts who oversee the treatment.
- During the treatment, we'll ask you to wear a smart watch. This will help us check your physical parameters and share them with us online, so we can keep monitoring your health.
- For our ultra-orthodox community members without a smartphone or internet, we offer a "kosher" tablet for your online treatment needs.
To get started with the online treatment, you'll need to pick a "main supporter" (often a family member or caregiver) who'll keep in touch with our team throughout the home hospitalization period. Additionally, patients must be linked with a family doctor who will oversee the physical aspects, refer for tests, and prescribe medications throughout the treatment. This doctor will also communicate with the treatment team as needed.
What is the cost of the service?
Members of Maccabi, Leumit, and Meuhedet HMOs are reimbursed for this service, or it can be paid out-of-pocket.
